Al Booth returns to East Yorkshire for radio series on a local nightclub

Former commercial and BBC broadcaster Al Booth is making a return to Yorkshire radio with a new weekly show on Beverley FM.
The series will be celebrating the sounds of the town’s (almost) legendary nightclub, Parkers.
The show, aptly titled “Off To Parkers,” is dedicated to reviving the anthems that once filled the dancefloor of Beverley’s nightclub, which operated between 1998 and 2005.
From Steps to The Vengaboys, Al promises to deliver a carefully curated soundtrack that will transport listeners back to their nights out at the industrial estate hotspot.
Despite sharing a name with the successful producer of Bob Harris’ country show, this Al Booth is best known for his time on Viking FM, Trent FM, and the BBC.
Speaking about the new show, he humorously framed it as a small victory for local radio: “I see this as yet another nail being taken out of the coffin for local radio. Although it was only open for seven years, Parkers launched the careers of JK & Joel and Stephanie Hirst. (Well, they DJ’d there when they were doing breakfast at Viking.)
For those eager to relive their nights at Parkers, “Off To Parkers” airs every Thursday from 8-9pm on Beverley FM.
As for the original venue? These days, it’s home to an investment and retirement planning specialist—proving that while the music has changed, the memories of Parkers live on.
