Glasgow radio station marks Radio Clyde’s 50 anniversary
Glasgow DAB radio station Quality Radio has broadcast a special programme to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Radio Clyde.
Radio Clyde Reunited organiser Norman Ross worked with with Glasgow City Council to host a Civic Reception at Glasgow City Chambers in George Square, Glasgow with former ‘261’ DJs and presenters.
Guests included Dave Marshall, Steve Jones, Dougie Donnelly, Tony Currie, Paul Coia and Head of Entertainment, Andy Park, who was at Radio Clyde from 1973 for 10 years.
Programme producer and long serving Radio Clyde 261 presenter Norman Ross said: “I felt that it was appropriate to mark the 50th anniversary of Radio Clyde with as many of the original team as possible. Glasgow City Council made us most welcome at the City Chambers in George Square in the centre of Glasgow.
“Apart from the well-known presenters, also attending were members of the news department with Martin Frizell now working with ITV, and Charles FitzGerald making the journey from Dublin to Glasgow for the event plus Jim Symon now at STV; legendary engineer John Lumsden and production people like John McCalman and Annie Wood.”
