BBC Radio 1Xtra event has been cancelled by the station

The BBC Radio 1Xtra Live event, due to take place on October 15th in London, has been cancelled.

The station says a combination of changes to artists’ schedules and increasing financial costs means that it is not able to put on the event to the standard it expects.

An alternative event is in the works, with the station adding: “We are working hard to deliver something special for later in the year, which we’ll announce soon.”

1Xtra was planning to celebrate its 20th birthday at the event, held at Wembley Arena.
