Former Spirit FM presenters launch new podcast all about radio

Three former Spirit FM presenters have launched a new podcast all about radio.

Frequency Funhouse is presented by Milly Luxford and Ian Crouch (currently Programme Controller at V2 radio in Sussex) and assisted by Peter Phillips.

The bi-weekly podcast delves into the trials and tribulations of local radio and each week features different guests with their own story to tell of their time in local radio.

In the first episode, the three presenters share stories of how they got interested in radio and eventually started their long careers in broadcasting, Milly and Crouchie talk about the very first time they met, they chat about different types of listeners, ‘Superfans’ and why you should never eat anything a listener sends you.

They also chat about the reality of working in a small station and the pitfalls and highlights they experienced.

Future Episodes will feature guests including V2 Radio Founder and Owner Justin Cotterell about why he wanted to start a radio station in a Pandemic, former Isle of Wight, Wessex FM and Spirit FM MD Steve Oates on the huge issues and challenges surrounding building a Radio station in the 80s & 90s, and voice over artiste Elliott Crossley on which voices he’s not allowed to do.

Milly, Ian and Peter say they are excited to be finally podcasting: “It’s something we have been planning to do for ages, but just never got it all together. We have finally found the time and are so excited to allow you to delve into the world of local radio and our professional lives – although at times it seems not always professional!

“We have really loved catching up with former colleagues and getting their take on how Local Radio really works! I think we have all continued to learn from recalling our experiences.”
