Halton Community Radio no longer broadcasting after company dissolution

Cheshire-based Halton Community Radio is currently off-air after the company operating it was dissolved.

According to companies house, the change was made on January 14th 2025, meaning it is no longer legally able to hold an Ofcom licence.

Regulation says that any broadcasting under an Ofcom licence must cease at the point of dissolution.

The radio station, which launched as a full time community service in 2008, is also no longer available to listen to online.

No messages have been posted on its website or social media accounts regarding the silence, and a request for information from RadioToday has gone unanswered.

The station is also currently under an Ofcom breach for not paying its licence fees for the period commencing August 2024.

When asked, an Ofcom spokesperson told us: “We are aware of Halton Community Radio being dissolved, and are engaging with the Licensee.”
