Former Global and Wireless producer Jamie Scott has died
Creative leader and executive producer Jamie Scott has passed away over the weekend.
Tributes have been paid to the radio professional from his friends and former colleagues including Jonathan Pascoe, Jamie Theakston, Vicki Mackay Chris Brooks, Ed James and Lisa Snell.
Jamie only posted on LinkedIn less than a week ago saying he was looking for a new role in the industry and looking for a new challenge.
James Cannon from BBC Radio Surrey wrote: “It is hard to describe how desperately sorry I am to report the sad death of my dear friend Jamie Scott, who passed away this weekend.
“He and I have been friends for more than 20 years, having first worked together at Capital FM. Back then I loved him because we worked hard, had fun and made great radio. He moved on to produce breakfast on Heart and took his great skill set there, justly winning awards and making more radio friends.
“We have stayed in constant touch, speaking regularly. My boys loved it when he came over. He was simply a fun person to be around.
“I will miss his laugh, acerbic comments, regular TV and Radio recommendations but mostly that he will no longer be at the end of the phone. My thoughts are with his family, who thankfully he was with just last week.
“In another rare social media post I will put details of his funeral when they are sorted.
“If you have any pictures or memories of Jamie to share with his friends and family please do so on this link. Sadly, I have all too few pix of Jamie as none of them ever met with approval!”
Jamie started out as a presenter on Radio Hallam in the late 90s. He also presented on Beacon FM and 96.4 BRMB.
He moved into production in September 2000 when he became a producer at Virgin Radio. This was followed by three years freelancing for BBC TV as an imaging producer and then eight years at Global where he produced at Capital and then became Executive Producer for Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston & Harriet Scott.
After leaving Global, Jamie once again, worked in television for a while, spending time at ITN Productions, Red Bull TV and ITV.
In 2019, he joined Virgin Radio as Executive Producer, before going freelance in October 2020. Among his freelance roles were being Series Producer for Business Unusual with Claudia Winkleman for Listen Entertainment, Programme Editor & News Editor at Channel 5 News and Associate Producer for The Jeremy Vine Show on BBC Radio 2.
The cause of his death has not been shared.
