Mearns FM goes digital as it joins Switch Aberdeen
North East Scotland community radio service Mearns FM has joined the Aberdeen DAB digital radio multiplex.
The move will give the station a larger coverage area since it launched full time 11 years ago.
Mearns FM started life as Stonehaven Community Radio in 1993 and is still run by volunteers.
The station has three FM transmitters located in Laurencekirk, Inverbervie and Stonehaven using 105.7 MHz, 106.2 MHz and 107.3.
Gavin Harper, Station Manager said: “Mearns FM gave away a DAB radio in the run up to launch and another one today with more prizes coming very soon.”
It joined the Switch Digital multiplex on July 27th at 6am.
